Resource it

Build the case for the funding and resources your work needs.

The situation

The approach has merit, but the funding is not yet in place. Budgets are constrained, the evidence is still emerging, and the case has to satisfy people with very different tests: commissioners, grant-making bodies, social investors and equity investors.

What we do

We help you understand what each of those funders needs to see, build a case that meets it and identify realistic routes to the resources your work needs.

We engage actively with the organisations that provide that funding: grant-making bodies including charities, the Medical Research Council and Innovate UK; commissioners; social impact investors; and early-stage equity investors. We apply that knowledge to strengthen your case. The funding itself comes from those organisations; our role is to help you secure it.

We also bring the experience of having committed capital ourselves. In [2023], FCC committed £3 million of its own charitable funds as anchor investor in the RYSE Special Opportunities Fund, which backs early-stage health and care innovators.

A side agreement sets the impact metrics RYSE reports against: health outcomes, patient experience and access, staff experience, sustainability, equality, value, and the number and profile of people affected.

FCC doesn’t make investment decisions, but we bring experience in committing capital, building governance around it and holding a fund to account for impact.

Who this is for

  • Health and care organisations preparing a business case
  • Charities considering impact investment for the first time.
  • Partners examining how impact finance could support adoption at scale.

In practice

Our approach to overcoming barriers to adoption is now a full partnership workstream with Social Finance, the national impact finance and advisory nonprofit.
